Laparoscopic Gastric Band Applications: Initial Experiences and Complications

Obesity is a chronic disease of which the prevalence is steadily increasing in Asia and in our country due to factors such as a lack of exercise, adoption of western diet, changing lifestyles, environments, or stresses. In the literature, many procedures are described such
as vertical banded gastroplasty, laparoscopic adjustable gastric band, gastric sleeve resection, biliopancreatic diversion, and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB) is one of the most used surgical procedures for the treatment of morbid
obesity. The purpose of this study is to evaluate and to represent our initial experience with Laparoscopic Gastric Band Applications in the light of the literature.

Obezite prevalansı egzersiz yokluğu, batı tarzı diyet, hayat stilinin değişmesi, çevresel etkenler ve stres gibi nedenlerden dolayı Asya ve ülkemizde giderek artan kronik bir hastalıktır. Literatürde vertikal band gastroplasti, laparoskopik ayarlanabilir gastrik band, gastrik
sleeve rezeksiyon, biliyopankreatik diversiyon ve Roux-en-Y bypass gibi bir çok işlem tanımlamıştır. Laparoskopik ayarlanabilir gastrik band obezitenin tedavisinde en sık kullanılan yöntemlerden biridir. Bu çalışmanın amacı laparoskopik ayarlanabilir gastrik band uygulamaları ile ilgili ilk deneyimlerimizi literatür eşliğinde değerlendirmek ve sunmaktır.
