A Different Technique of Presentation for Scientific Congress: Video-Poster

The presentation in scientific congress and symposiums may be in two different forms: as poster or oral presentation. Each method has some advantages and disadvantages. In each congress, few number of oral presentations are accepted compared with the number of posters, but it has the advantage of using various methods such as slide show, and film presentations. On the other hand, oral presentation have time and number of audience limitations. Poster presentation has no video or slide show; it’s visual effect is supported by using figures, graphics, and photographs. But it’s presentation time is long and it reaches too many people when compared with oral presentation. If the advantages of these two presentation types are combined, a new presentation type will be obtained. This new presentation is a “video-poster”. We take a piece of sheet with poster size, and incise it as to put a mobile DVD player in it. The DVD player is opened 180 degress so the sceen and the body of the DVD player are in the same plane. The poster is fixed to the sheet and the part on the screen of DVD player is cut off, so the screen seems to be a picture on the poster. Then this video-poster are fixed to the panel. DVD player starts to show the videopresentation of the operation. It is set as to return to the beginning, when the operation ends. This video-poster combines the advantages of both types of presentations, and it has no time limitation.

Bilimsel Toplantılar İçin Farklı Bir Sunum Tekniği: Video-Poster

Bilimsel içerikli kongre ve sempozyumlarda bildirilr sözlü veya poster olarak iki farklı şekilde sunulur. Her iki sunum şeklinin birbirlerine karşı avantaj ve dezavantajları vardır. Sözlü bildiri daha az sayıda kabul edilir, poster ile kıyaslanamayacak kadar üstün bir görsel zenginliğe ve konuyu sözel olarak anlatmak gibi bir üstünlüğe sahiptir. Ancak bu sunum şeklinin toplantı salonunda bulunan dinleyiciler ile sınırlı bir potansiyeli ve uymak zorunda olduğu bir zaman dilimi vardır. Posterlerde sözlü anlatım ve video sunum yoktur, resimler ve grafikler kullanılarak görsel zenginlik arttırılmaya çalışılır. Bununla birlikte sunum süresi uzundur ve asılı kaldığı sürece uyandırdığı ilgi ile doğru orantılı olarak sözlü sunum ile kıyaslanamayacak kadar çok katılımcıya ulaşabilir. Her iki sunum şeklinin avantajlı tarafları birleştirilebilirse ortaya yeni bir sunum şekli çıkar. Video-poster ile bu sunum şekli oluşturulabilir. Bu amaçla poster boyutlarında bir köpük tabakanın içi oyularak hazırlandı. Bir taşınabilir DVD çalar, ekranı ile gövdesi aynı düzleme gelecek şekilde 180 derece açılarak köpüğün hazırlanan bu bölümüne yerleştirildi. Hazırlanmış olan poster bu köpük tabakanın üzerine tutturuldu ve DVD player ekranına gelen kısmı kesilerek çıkartıldı. Bu şekilde ekran posterin resimlerinden biri gibi göründü. Daha sonra poster ve arkasındaki köpük tabaka sergi panosuna tespit edildi. Enerji verildikten sonra uzaktan kumanda ile DVD player çalıştırılarak ameliyatı gösteren film başlatıldı ve bittiği zaman başa dönerek sürekli gösterecek şekilde ayarlandı. Böylece video-poster sayesinde anlatılmak istenen konu maksimum sunum avantajlarına sahip olarak ve zaman kısıtlaması olmadan paylaşmaya açılmış oldu.
