Safety Sedation Practice During Endoscopic Processes

Gastrointestinal endoscopy has recently been used commmonly in every type of diagnostic and treatment procedures of digestive system diseases. All endoscopic processes are stressful attempts for the patient. As well as discomfort caused by the process itself, the expectancy of the forthcoming result would also negatively affect the patient in case the process is done for diagnostic purposes, Patient’s previous experiences on the same processes or the news heard of other patients on the issue will also imfluence his/her feelings and behaviours. Therefore, it is a fact that reducing the patient’s stress during the process will certainly affect the success of that process. For this reason, most recently, demand for sedation during endoscopic procedures has gradually increased. This article aims is to draw attention to the significance of safety sedation practice in endoscopic processes by emphasizing the preparation of patient, sedation practice for elderly, child patient and difficult patients, standard infrastructure and equipments for anaesthesia outside the operating room, the importance of patient’s evaluation prior to the attempt, patient’s monitoring during the attempt, recovery and discharge criteria.

Endoskopik İşlemlerde Güvenli Sedasyon Uygulaması

Gastrointestinal endoskopi, günümüzde sindirim sistemi hastalıklarının her türlü tanı ve tedavisi için yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadır. Bütün endoskopik işlemler hasta için stres yaratan girişimlerdir. Hastanın bu işlemler ile ilgili önceki deneyimleri ya da başka hastalardan duydukları da duygu ve davranışlarında etkili olacaktır. Bu nedenle hastanın işlem sırasındaki stresini azaltmanın, işlemin başarısını etkileyeceği bir gerçektir ve son yıllarda endoskopik girişimlerde sedasyon talebi giderek artmaktadır. Bu makalede; hasta hazırlığı, yaşlı, çocuk ve uygulama açısından sorunlu olan hastalarda sedasyon uygulaması, ameliyathane dışı anestezide standart altyapı ve ekipmanlar, girişim öncesi hasta değerlendirmesinin önemi, girişim sırasında hastanın izlenmesi ve derlenme ve taburcu etme kriterleri üzerinde durularak endoskopik işlemlerde güvenli sedasyon uygulamasının önemine dikkat çekmek amaçlanmıştır.
